Sleepdogs perform: Circadial
October 8 / 2:00 pm - 3:30 pmFREE
Part gig, part-installation, drop in whenever, stay as long as you like.
In Circadial Sleepdogs make field recordings of a city then splice, stretch, loop, pitch and warp them, turning the city into an improvised music made entirely from atmospheric sound – sometimes ambient, sometimes rhythmic, sometimes beautiful, sometimes weird, sometimes recognisable, sometimes not… but always in response to the things they’ve heard and seen on their journey.
It’s about the polyphony of a place; the ghost music hiding within everyday sounds.
Sleepdogs are Tanuja Amarasuriya and Timothy X Atack. They have worked with Channel 4, BBC Radio, Edgar Wright, Endemol Shine China, Sam Halmarack, The National Theatre, Royal Exchange Manchester, Laura Dannequin and Selina Thompson amongst many others. Their short film All My Dreams on VHS starred Gugu Mbatha-Raw and O-T Fagbenle, won the audience award at NexT Bucharest 2009 and has been shown and exhibited worldwide. Their radio play The Morpeth Carol won the Radio Academy award for best drama 2014. They are resident at Pervasive Media Studio, Bristol.
